The Confusing Position of 'Fundamental' Baptist Churches

I wanted to share a doctrinal position in regards to the Bible, from a fairly local Independent 'Fundamental' Baptist church.  At first, I thought about posting the link to the church directly, but, I don't think that's called for.  I'm not wanting to be in the position of singling out one church in particular.  If a church is doing something for the Lord Jesus Christ, who am I not to applaud any work it does?

Rather, the doctrinal position in regards to the Bible, is not just unique to this particular church; it is common-place for many churches, especially when those churches, or in many instances, their Pastor, is associated with Bob Jones University.

The Doctrinal Position

Their doctrinal position on the Holy Bible reads as this,
"Our theological position is conservative. We hold the Bible as the final Authority for all matters of faith and practice. We believe the Bible to be 100% true, 100% accurate and 100% reliable. And we believe the Authorized Version is the best English translation currently available and use it exclusively for our preaching and teaching ministries."

What Does This Mean?

What does this "doctrinal position" on the Holy Bible mean?

In the second sentence, they declare that the Bible is the final authority for all matters of faith and practice.

In the third sentence, they declare that the Bible is "100% true", "100% accurate", "100% reliable"

Then, the very next sentence reads, ".. the Authorized Version is the best English translation currently available"

I thought the Bible is "100% true", "100% accurate", "100% reliable", but! The Authorized Version (King James Bible) is just the best translation available.

If someone believes that the Bible is 100% accurate, why do they then contradict this position by saying the Bible we have is just "the best"?  Why not say, the Authorized Version is perfect?

How accurate is the "the best"?

Something being "the best" does not make it perfect.  Perfect is 100% true, 100% accurate, 100% reliable.

You can have a group of Christians, hey, all the Christians in the world, someone might be "the best" Christian, but are they the perfect Christian? No!  Because if we say we are without sin, then we deceive ourself! (1 John 1:8).

The best is by no means perfect.  Indeed, the best, given the measuring stick (ie, depending on what it's being compared to), can mean that the best available, is still pretty sloppy.

The Truth

The truth, sadly, is that this church, along with many others, are simply lying to us.  They are being deceiving.  They do not believe the Bible is 100% accurate, 100% reliable, 100% true, because, they believe that we have an imperfect Bible.  The one we have is not perfect, it is just "the best".

Who should we believe?  The lying tongues of men, who say one thing, and yet believe another, or that God preserved His word, as He promised He would?

“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” Psalm 12:6-7

Yeah, the LORD promised to preserve His words.  The words are available to us right now, in the Authorized Version, the King James Bible, and the King James Bible is PERFECT.

And what of these men, who say the Bible is 100% accurate, then claim that the Bible is not 100% accurate, in the very next sentence?  Men who, when I meet, are so often puffed up with self-righteousness, receiving the praise of the wicked Bible changing - God breathed word changing colleagues?  The very next verse,

“The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.” Psalm 12:8

Yeah, trust not men, trust God who promised to preserve His word, and we have it, in the King James Bible,

“God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; ...” Romans 3:4

Indeed, as Dr. Peter Ruckman said, we have the Creed of the Alexandrian Cult, claiming to have the belief that the Bible is 100% accurate, but then also claiming, that no such Bible exists.
