"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." - Mark 16:15

Know A Man By His Enemies

And by his friends.

Brother Lester Roloff (1914-1982), on modern Bibles:
"The Word of God is our only hope—that's our only hope! This has been the generation of translations and abominations, and perversions, of the Word of God! It's been a long time; now when the Revised Standard Version came out, I stood against it before I knew what it was, because the wrong crowd heard of that, and the wrong crowd received it, and I knew it got too much publicity to be right! And I knew if the newspapers publicized something, it had to be wrong! And so I knew that the American people and a lot of American preachers—they welcomed it into their house before they knew it was a rattlesnake!” - From the sermon, 'The Living Bible Exposed'
"I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts." —Psalm 119:63
Dr. Peter Ruckman, on friends and enemies:
"I believe the King James Bible is the word of God, if for no other reason than the pride and inconsistency of its critics. You can tell as much by its enemies as you can by its friends. If I want to find out what a fellow is like, I find out who his friends are; then I find out who his enemies are. When I know the man’s friends and I know his enemies, I know the man. A man that doesn’t have any enemies is not a man. You ought to have friends, and you ought to have enemies. People ought to be able to tell you by your friends, and people ought to be able to tell you by your enemies." - From the book and sermon, 'Why I Believe The King James Bible Is the Word of God'
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” — Amos 3:3

Christians With Critics

I wanted to write this, as it seems to me, that, at least as a general rule, the more enemies a person has, a Christian, the better the chance that person is right, or at least, is right about somethings, and something important.  The devil loves his own, and they avoid criticism of the world.  How many false prophets:  Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, atheists, are celebrated and applauded in this life?  Many, most, if not all of them, 1 John 15:19, “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Sometimes, especially with preachers, we should be willing to look aside of the gossip, and look at the person ourselves, and make up our own minds.  Gossip is a killer, Proverbs 18:8, "The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly."

By being unfairly swayed by gossip, we could be depriving ourselves of a great blessing, by not listening to a preacher; a Christian who DOES have a good message.  Let's test the spirits ourselves, rather than relying, if we were to be swayed, on others hearsay for decisions and opinions.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1
False prophets may be the accused, or the accuser.  Some have scheming hearts (Psalm 55:21), some are genuinely deceived.  Let's, as Bible believing Christians, make the decisions for ourselves, rather than primarily, or only, through gossip, using the Holy Bible to discern the truth.
"A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends." — Proverbs 16:28

Christ Himself Was Unfairly Accused

Jesus, who lived a life without sin, was railed with false accusations.  As the Lord said,
"The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?" — Matt. 10:24,25
Here is a list of accusations against the Lord Jesus Christ, link.

It is for this reason, that I give people who are accused, the benefit of the doubt, chiefly, by doing my own research.  For certain, I listen to men of God that I trust, but, everyone can be wrong, or simply be mistaken.  We are all human.

For this reason, I've been blessed by gifts from God, by reading or listening to sermons by men such as Dr. Peter Ruckman, Dr. Jack Hyles, to name but a few.  If someone is saved, and they are teaching Biblical truths, then there are many things that I, or anyone can learn from them, as there is many things they could learn from others also, including us.
"And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding." — Jeremiah 3:15

"Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves. —1 Thessalonians 5:11-13
