MEV - Another Corrupt Bible

MEV - Modern English Version.  The MEV is another corrupt bible version on the market.  This one deserves attention as it is advertised as a replacement for the King James Bible.

“And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.”  1 Kings 14:24(KJV)

The MEV (Modern English Version) changed the word sodomites to 'male cult prostitutes'

"There were also male cult prostitutes in the land, and they did according to all the abominations of the nations that the Lord cast out before the children of Israel." 1 Kings 14:24 (MEV)

Why change sodomites to male cult prositutes?  Is it because of the clamour within various denominations, that homosexuality is not a sin?  You bet.  Everyone knows what a sodomite is, but a 'male cult prostitute' whatever that is, is to imply that the sin is of being a prostitute, and nothing to do with homosexuality.

One of the churches involved in translating the MEV is the Church of England, which has the position that gay marriages are OK (source)

Pentecostal Nonesense

Pentecostals are responsible for the speaking in tongues movement, and for the faith healing movement.  Speaking in tongues in a biblical sense involves someone (eg an Apostle) speaking in their own language, yet having an audience of people who all speak different languages, and yet, all the people understand the speaker as if it were their native language.  This is speaking in tongues, all understand.  In the 'speaking in tongues movement', it involves a single person babbling incoherently, so that no one can understand him.  This is not biblical speaking in tongues at all!  Yet Pentecostals advertise it as so. If it's a power, and it's not from God, then it's from Satan!  God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints (1 Corinthians 14:33)

The second part of Pentecostalism, is that people are healed by 'faith healers', that is, people like Benny Hinn who claim that supposed 'faith healers' heal people of all sickness and infirmities.  There are a few things going on with this.  From a practical purpose, many faith healers still wear glasses (so they cannot cure their eyesight problems), nor do they ever walk into hospitals (were sick people are) and cure them.  Many reported issues of faith healers being fraudulent abound.  For example, the people in wheelchairs are put to the back of a faith healing gathering, not allowed to come to be healed, and it's just unverifiable things such as curing a headache, or a bad back that's apparently fixed.  Faith healer exposed.

The Apostles were given the power to heal for a limited time, so that people would believe in the early days of Christianity. Here is a common scripture, mis-interpreted by Pentecostals to say that Jesus' sacrifice on the cross was to heal us physically,

"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5 KJV

The scripture above is referring to our eternal salvation, which we gain through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, not our physical heath, but the salvation of our souls.  This is backed up by

"..who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." 1 Peter 2:24 KJV

The MEV changes this to read,

"He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness. “By His wounds you were healed.” Peter 2:24 MEV

Why change it to wounds?  It's because the Pentecostalist Stanley M Horton was the senior editorial advisor.  Of course there could not be a translation which downplayed the Pentecostal false healing teaching!

The truth of the matter is that it is God who heals, not people, and healing is requested through prayer (James Chapter 5).  God heals, not faith healers!

I've had Charismatics (those who speak in tongues and believe in faith healers) tell me that they 'feel sorry' for me for not accepting faith healers, and not had the gift of being 'healed'.  Remember, some of the greatest Christians ever had physical infirmities.  The Apostle Paul could not remove the afflicting thorn in his flesh (2nd Corinthians 12:7) and Timothys often infirmities (1 Timothy 5:23) were not healed.

Sometimes God gives us a physical ailment to keep up humble, as in Paul, sometimes it is the result of our own lives, because we all have the old flesh, the sinful body, and the wages of sin are death!  It would not make sense to think God would physically heal everyone, because our bodies are sinful.  One can only pray to God, ask for the elders of their church to pray for them and anoint them with oil, and it is God's choice whether to physically heal or not.

Guys, the Bible tells us that the Antichrist will use signs and lying wonders, and that in the end times false prophets will display great signs and wonders,

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”  Matthew 24:24 KJV
The Bible tells us to test the spirits!  It's not some guy (Benny Hinn) who is worth some $42 million!  Making money by playing on people's desperation, corrupting the Bible.  Biblically, they are false prophets.

Esoteric Teaching

The MEV suffers the same problems as the NKJV (New King James Version) by introducing occult mythology.

"And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom." Luke 16:23 KJV

The MEV uses the word Hades instead of Hell, 'In Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes ...'

In Greek, there are various words for Hell, another one is Sheol.  In Biblical Greek, Hades is associated with Orcus, the infernal regions, a dark and dismal place in the very depths of the earth.

But what do we associate the word Hades with in English?

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Hades
Hades:
The underworld; the land of the spirits of the dead.
1.1 The god of the underworld, one of the sons of Cronus.
Also called Pluto

Hades is associated with Greek mythology.  How much more confusing is it to use a word such as Hades, or even the word Sheol (eg Psalm 9:17) - I had to look it up, rather than just refer to it as Hell?

Conclusion

The MEV is translated from the Textus Receptus, but it is not as accurate a translation as the King James Bible.  The MEV is influenced by the ecumenical group that assembled it, so we have homosexuality downplayed, and argumentation against faith healing downplayed.

It's harder to understand, because instead of using the word Hell, it uses words like Sheol and Hades.

The King James Bible still stands as the inspired word of God for the English language.
