Regular Joes/Christians Who Stand Out

I've found it interesting how often that people who stand out, who seem the best, and profess to be Christians, are so often the ones we should be careful of,
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Matthew 7:15

Mormons

Take Mormons for instance.  On the presentation front, Mormons excel at face value.  How often are Mormons, and Mormon missionaries, the type with the perfect teeth, perfect hair, immaculately presented shirt and tie, all pressed and ironed,

Mormon Missionaries
Don't they just look wonderful?  But of course, appearance can be and ARE deceiving.  In reality, Mormons preach a different gospel, a different Jesus.  They believe, unbiblically, that Jesus was a created being, that God is a created being, even unbiblically claming that Jesus is the brother of Satan, and that Mormon's WILL become God's themselves (which is incidentally, straight out of Satan's handbook, because Satan HIMSELF wanted to become AS God!).  Mormons believe in a different Jesus, they add works to salvation with their different Jesus, and wrote a new Bible, aka, by their founder Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon.

Beware!  Mormons will lead you straight to Hell!

Yet, on the outside, they seem very presentable, almost, 'wholesome', if someone did not have the Spirit of Truth to help guide them.

Catholic Nuns

Catholic Nuns
Again, the Nuns look rather impressive, with their modest clothing covering them, their heads covered, habits, impressively and seriously reading from what one would presume is a Holy Book, or perhaps a hymnal.  Nuns are presented with modest apparel, adorned in crucifixes, often presenting a humble, pious impression.

However, Nuns do NOT believe that Jesus is their only way to Heaven.  Nuns put their faith in their human superior, as their representative to God.  Nuns simply reject the Gospel, and add human intervention to it, along with 'sacrements', last rites, confession, communion and so forth.

To the unsaved, they, and this, appears godly, but, it is not.
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” 1 Timothy 2:5

Jehovah's Witnesses

Jehovah's Witnesses
Similar to Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses are always immaculately presented, attractive, intelligent seeming people.  Like Mormons, and Nuns, and other false prophets (those who deny the Gospel), they present themself with fair speaches, fair appearance, appealing to human rationale and humanist type sympathies.  How could such people be wrong, many could ask?  Again, like Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses believe in a DIFFERENT Jesus.  They believe that Jesus is not the only Begotten Son of God (John 3:16), but that Jesus is instead a created being, simply just the Archangel MIchael.  The deny that Hell is real.  They believe only 144,000 people will be saved.  Like Mormons, like Nuns, Catholics, and many other false prophets, they also add on works to being saved,
“For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” Romans 16:18

Who is the Christian?

Although of course, one cannot, and should not, simply judge a person by the cover, but so often it's the case, that the person who IS the Christian, who professes the Gospel as it is presented in the Bible, with no additions or fancy built in man made requirements or flourishes, is the person who seems rather ordinary, or pehaps not the best of persons.  For some, nonedescript could even be the word.

Often it's the case, that it's the person who doesn't appear to be living a great life, who doesn't appear to have it all figured out.  Who has strengths, and weaknesses, flaws, good points, bad points, but is, overall human.

It's the type of honesty that's presented in how they are, with their good and their bad.

The Bible

In the Bible, there were no perfect men.  The only perfect man, and I use the word man, to describe God in the flesh, is the Lord Jesus Christ.  The great men OF God, Moses, had a temper. Moses was by his own admission, slow of speech, so he wasn't a great and fanciful orator.

King David commited adultery and sinned.

Lot lived a life of much sin, with a poor testimony.  His testimony was so poor, that not even all members of his family believed him, yet, we find that Lot was a just man, a righteous man, because he put his faith in the Lord, giving him the Messiah's, Christ's imputed righteousness,
"And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)" 2 Peter 2:7-8

Not every Christian will be a member of a Church

Often it is the case, we expect men, and women of God, to be part of a church, even the great men of God, to be involved in leading the church, perhaps even leading it.  This also, is not always the case.  Someone who is right with God may reject a local church, because their local church (or churches), teach heresies.  Perhaps the churches close to them add special 'powers' to the Lord's supper, aka, sacrements, perhaps their local churchse require Baptism to be saved, perhaps their local churches don't care about the great commission, soul winning, and so instead, that particular Christian, decides to make a stand for the Lord,
“Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29
Sometimes, people move up organizations, by compromising, by putting aside the word of God, in order to get along to move up the ladder, so to speak.  Such things, although questionable, may be OK in a work situation, in a wordly situation, but not, and never is it right in a Biblical situation!  To compromise, to go along to get along, implies some value being given to receiving the praise of men, rather than the praise of God,
".. lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God." John 12:42b-43

Of course, it isn't always the case

Of course, it isn't always the case.  Some people will appear as the full package, so to speak, presenting themself well, as well as not compromising the truth.  Some people will be leaders, if not the leader, in their church, or indeed, their community, successful in the world, however, such cases are few and far between.  Even John the Baptist, whom Jesus called the greatest man born of women (Matthew 11:11),  was not imbued with wordly possessions, what today we would call, nice cars, nice houses, nice clothes, and such.  John the Baptist was however, uncompromising, when it came to the truth, but, the truth, with love, for how can one tell the truth without loving the person, or the people that one is telling? Or not love the Saviour, His word, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Angels Unawares

So often is the case, the one we least expect, is the one who is, or trying to, or wanting to, serve God the most.  Let's be realistic, we are all guilty sinners.  We should not sin, and we should try NOT to sin, but, if someone is putting on an air and grace of perfection, then we know there is a good chance, that something is wrong, because the Bible tells us we are ALL sinners, and to pretend otherwise, is not being truthful, from the start.

None of us are better than anyone.

Sometimes, it's the person we least expect, is the person who is truly saved, and is, or, is trying to walk with God, or indeed, that person who we least expect, might not even be a person, but be an angel, and we are unwares,
"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Hebrews 13:2
