The Treatment of Animals

Animals should not be abused, they should be treated with care.  It is sinful to be cruel to animals, to beat them.  A person who tortures, beats, abuses animals is a cruel person, Proverb 12:10, “A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.”

Animals should be properly treated and protected, however, when placed against for instance the welfare of even one human child, all the animals in the world do not compare, or are equal to that child.

When fishing, and pregnant fish are caught, often the pregnant fish are released back into the ocean so that they can give birth to more fish.

God is a Bird Watcher

Deuteronomy 22:6-7, “If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam [mother] sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam [mother] with the young. But thou shalt in any wise let the dam [mother] go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.”
God is saying that, if we come across a birds nest in our path, rather than harming the birds nest, to walk around the birds nest.  Animals are Gods creation and as such, we should respect and look after his creation.  In effect, we should have kindness to the welfare of a mother with her chicks.

Similarly to fishermen releasing pregnant fish back into the ocean, it is kindness and respect to God's creation.

A cruel man beats and tortures animals.

However, having respect, and respect for reproducing life, is different from elevating animals to the same level as humans.  Animals should be killed as quickly and humanely as possible.  We should not be cruel to them, but they are food for us,  Genesis 9:3... "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things."  God Himself killed the first animals to make "coats of skins" for Adam and Eve to wear, Genesis 3:21, "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them."

Animal Abuse

There is some good in PETA, when they expose animal abuse.  A similar organization in the UK is the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), which seeks to help animals, pets, who are being subject to abuse, malnourishment, starvation, and to bring criminal charges against their owners.

This is good, because we should respect God's creation.

It is ludicrous however, to elevate animals to the same level as people.  People have a spirit, a moral compass, knowing the difference between right and wrong, and humans are intelligent beings.

People are not Animals

One cannot expect to have a fulfilling relationship with animals, such as lambs, goats, cats dogs, because they are not equal to us, but made a little lower than us.  Of course, they can give us joy, but they are animals, and do not give companionship, relationship, friendships as humans do.  Adam could not find a companion amongst all the animals.

Genesis 2:18, 'And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.'.  God made every beast of the earth, the fowl of the air, and Adam named each one of them, but among them all, a help meet could not be found for Adam.

The LORD God said, 'it is not good that the man should be alone'.  The only creation that man could find as a companion, a help meet, was another person, a woman.

Man needs woman, people need people.  It is through people that we fully find companions, help meets.  To try to convince oneself that an animal, a sheep, a goat, can fulfill these things just as much as a person, is to delude oneself.  Animals should be respected and not mistreated, but they are not equal to people, which is what the philosophy of veganism espouses.

Animals should be treated with respect, not abused, but they are not equal to people.  There's nothing wrong with eating animals, Gensis 9:3, 'Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.'  They should be killed as quickly and painlessly as possible, but they are there for us to eat, and to clothe us.

Animals eat each other, and they would eat you!  God put us in charge of the animals, Genesis 9:2, 'And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.'

It is unbiblical, and nonesenical, to avoid eating animals as though they should be given equal rights to people.

To say that animals are the same as humans, is to deny the very facts of nature, and life.

Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.” Proverbs 27:23
