"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." - Mark 16:15

Who would you rather have running the finances of your church?

Candidate A

The businessman.

Candidate A, the businessman, has himself a degree in accountancy with a postgraduate masters in business.  Having taken the helm at a number of companies, his flair for business coupled with his ability to number crunch has seen the profits of all the business take a jump, coasting high year on year.  Adding on to this Candidate A has shown a flair for streamlining staff, he'll get your church promoted - he'll get your name out there.

Candidate B

The Soulwinner.

Candidate B, the soulwinner, has preached the Gospel on many streets, at many doors of houses, in many prisons and other public locations.  He's won many to Christ.

What does the bible say about the soulwinner?

God says that they are wise,

Proverbs 11:30 - 'The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.'

God says that they will shine brightly in eternity,

Daniel 12:3 - 'And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.'

God says that they are true,

Proverb 14:25 - 'A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.'

God says that they have grown on good ground, so they have an honest heart,

Mark 4:20 - 'And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.'

And we will know them by their fruit,

Matthew 7:16-20, 'Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?  Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.'

I choose Candidate B

The businessman may have qualifications, and have performed well in secular jobs, but these are wordly qualifications, and business jobs are not God's calling for His jobs.

The soulwinner may not have any of the man-made qualifications.  But God says they are wise, and God says they have good hearts.

If God says they are wise, then that's good enough for me, and should be good enough for anybody.

What does God say about candidate A?

Matthew 6:24 - 'No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.'

Candidate A looks good on paper, but there is no mention of him believing, and there is no mention - AND no soulwinning being done, so he might seem wise to other men, but God doesn't say he's wise, God says you can't serve God AND money.

Soulwinning is the most important thing we can do,

Mark 8:36, 'For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?'
