Why Churches Don't Go Soulwinning

MP3 Link: Link
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? and how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:14-17
The purpose of soulwinning is not to get people to come to your church, the purpose of soulwinning is to get people SAVED.

Many churches try soulwinning, then think, this isn't working, we don't have a bunch of new people each week coming to our church.

The purpose for us as Christians, as a church is to send people out, to preach the word of God, that is, the Gospel,
"that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" Romans 10:9-10
When churches look at soulwinning, often the case is, they are looking for immediate results.  They are looking for church pews and church seats to be filled up daily, weekly, with new converts.

These are great things to have, but, it is an approach for the wrong reasons.  Fleshly reasons of saying, "Wow our church has grown!", "Wow, look at all the work brother or sister so and so did, or the work I did!".  The purpose of soulwinning is to get people saved.  Even the angels in Heaven rejoice when someone is saved,
“Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Luke 15:10

New Christians Coming to Church

Having new Christians coming to our Churches is a great thing, but, let's remember that this is not the purpose of soulwinning.  The purpose of soulwinning is to get people saved.  Someone can get saved anywhere - on the street, in their home.  Wanting to get people saved, to come to our Church is a good endeavour, but, one has to be careful, as it can be an endeavour with an agenda. In such circumstances, do we really want people to be saved, to glorify ourselves by 'showing off' people in our Church?

Or do we want to get people saved because we care about obeying God, and we care about a lost persons eternal soul?

There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.  Let us rejoice also, regardless of where that saving takes place, but rejoice, in the spreading of the Gospel, and the repenting of even that one sinner.

Others in our life may not see it, but God in Heaven, and the host of Heaven, see it.

"(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” 2 Corinthians 5:7
