Women Preachers - My Opinion?

'Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.' 1 Timothy 2:11-12

Do I think that women should be allowed to be Pastors in a Church?  I've heard the argument that many women create false doctrines, for instance, speaking in tongues (the languages at 'speaking in tongues events' are never known, but Biblical speaking in tongues involves known currently used and understood languages), false faith healing (it's been shown time and time again that so called faith healers of today use trickery, paid actors, and just supposedly 'heal' simple things such as headaches.  For instance, they never step into a hospital and heal actual sick people).  Women have been involved in these things very strongly at their inception, and still heavily promote it (a study here shows that so called 'Charismatics' are among the most heavily female influenced of denominations, some '1.71-2.98 to 1 female:male ratio'.)

On the other hand, men too have demonstrated a susceptibility to false doctrine, for instance, each Pope promotes a wrong idea of salvation, as did John Calvin with pre-election and salvation being through faith AND works.  John Smith founded the Mormons.  There are other examples.

What else do the scriptures say?

'And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.' 1 Timothy 13-14

Therefore the Bible is saying that men are LESS likely to be deceived than the woman.

To be fair, and it's something I was thinking about today, I've met women in Church who seem to have more sense than their husbands, and would appear to be able to teach men on things, but they do not, or do it rarely.  Perhaps the reason they appear to have more sense is BECAUSE they are obeying Christ by following His teachings.  Through fellowship with God we gain increased wisdom.

Regardless of the Reason

The fact of the matter is that the Bible teaches us that women are not to be leaders of authority in the Church.  Whether we agree with it or not, is not really the issue, the issue is in obeying God, and to obey God, the Bible is our final authority, me as a male, a woman as a woman.

Remember - not every man can be a leader in the Church, because the Bible talks about qualifications for men, such as; not given to wine, not greedy, patient etc.

Regardless of shifting trends in society, as Christians looking to walk with God, we should look to obey Him.

'Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.' 1 Timothy 2:15

And the men are to lead.
